Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week: Day 2

9AM : Emerson’s new collection certainly caters to the eclectic sophisticate. Jackie Fraser-Swan’s pallette of greys, blues, and blacks are far from boring, with simple but unique cuts and shapes for everyday pieces.

9:30AM : Electric Feathers‘ display is great fun to look at with such simple solid-colored pieces, but this only draws more attention to the designer’s creative emphasis on texture, shine, draping, volume, and shape. These looks are so urban nomadic– the chicest, sporty gypsy would wear her looks!

11AM : Luca Luca looks brilliant for the spring! The classic pieces, from blazers to wrap dresses, have all been updated for the modern, sensible woman. The knotted headband is such a playful accessory to relax to a serious outfit for the spring season.

2PM : Rebecca Taylor is that familiar face. Her blue-centric collection was like a refreshing dip in ocean water with citrus hints of chartreuse. I love the use of shimmer and metallics in fabrics– it brings so much dimension to already intricate pieces. For spring, Taylor reminded us why women continue love her clothes so much.

2:30PM : Mara Hoffman was incredible– exotic and perfectly coordinated color palettes for each piece (with chunky wooden heeled sandals to match!). These looks carry the best prints that are so detailed they look fit for sacred ritual garb worn by an Amazonian goddess. I love it!!!

5PM : Helen Yarmak proved that luxury doesn’t have to be stiff or old-fashioned. She mixes elegant furs with electrifying brights and the fun with sophistication. Her take on ladylike is  sporty and fresh. Stunning yet simple!

6PM : Nicole Miller is another favorite, trusted name for flattering, effortless clothes. Be prepared for graphic prints, from checkers to stripes, in offbeat colors this spring, and wear your tops oversized and swingy with leggings and skirts of the pencil and godet variety.

6:30PM : Joy Cioci flirts with the feminine in sexy, uptown gal looks that feel incredibly romantic and nostalgic. These pieces have a retro glamour to them that cannot be mistaken. The designer’s choices of color include pastels mixed with brights and some hints of organic graphic prints.

6:30PM : Concept Korea‘s looks are bold and artistic; his graphic furs are some of my favorite pieces so far. This collection had everything, from leopard print to mermaid inspired metallics.

7PM : Cynthia Rowley! Cynthia Rowley! Cynthia Rowley! This popular designer wowed on the runway with silky floral prints amazing geometry. Waist-cinching paired with voluminous skirts is so classically feminine and to-die-for in these pieces, inspired by an imperial oriental robe. Absolutely stunning and breathtaking.

9PM : Falguni and Shane Peacock have certainly achieved luxury and one-of-a-kind intricacy on these body-conscious styles. Each piece has so much going on, energy in every direction, textures of all types!
