Fashion Week in Paris: Balenciaga‘s show gave all the anticipated shapes for next spring. The models looked stiff, plastic and androgynous (shopping mall mannequins?), as did the clothes. Big volume and boxy angles on oversized jackets were Nicolas Ghesquiere’s choice for evolving past this past year’s “strong-shoulder” trend. Bold! Once in a while, a Picasso-inspired print surprised… also take note of the graphic footwear. In the next-to-last looks, gorgeously colored long fringed skirts, along with the high-waisted tapered trousers and shorts (wide-brimmed hats and a kimono sleeved dress–need I say more?), gave the feminine energy of the 70s that is so “this moment”.
